Every Man, Every Church, Every Role: 3

Every Man, Every Church, Every Role:

Made Capable

In reading about the division of priests, it talks about leaders being appointed to the different roles of ministering in the Temple. These leaders were divided into their roles in the temple in accordance with their family and by the casting of lots to see who was going to serve were. There are a couple of verses that talk about leaders being capable and able to do the work.

1 Chronicles 26:6-8 His son Shemaiah also had sons, who were leaders in their father’s family because they were very capable men… his relatives Elihu and Semakiah were also able men. All these were descendants of Obed-Edom; they and their sons and their relatives were capable men with the strength to do the work.

The men listed in these verses were in the division of the gatekeepers. They were all capable, strong, and able to do the work. It was the same for every man in every role in the Temple. Every man was capable, strong, and able to do the work set before him.

Whether you are following in the footsteps of your father or you are a first generation believer, God has made you capable, strong, and able to do the work. What you have been through in life, your personality, your giftings, and being a believer are what makes you able to do the work. Regardless of your past, your age, your personality, and how long you’ve been a Christian there is a role in the church that you fit perfectly in. It’s just a matter of serving in different roles to see where you are the best fit. Who knows, with your giftings, you may fall perfectly into more than one role.
